New Inclusive Economy Roadshow in Kelowna

The New Inclusive Economy (NIE) is hosting a series of business-to-business conversations intended to share research project findings with employers throughout B.C.

On June 22, the New Inclusive Economy Roadshow will gather together employers with an inclusive employment story and employers who aspire to be disability inclusive, in Kelowna, for a panel discussion and presentation.

About the New Inclusive Economy Business-to-Business Roadshow

In June, 2023, the New Inclusive Economy will be traveling to all eight economic regions of the province. The New Inclusive Economy Roadshow is a series of business-to-business conversations designed to engage with employers who want to learn more about how they can be a more inclusive and equitable employer.

Self-employed people and employers in B.C., and those who self-identify as having a disability, are all welcome to participate in these events.

About New Inclusive Economy

The New Inclusive Economy (NIE) is a British Columbia (B.C.) based, province-wide research project which aims to capture alternative economic approaches to inclusive employment and explore how employers recruit and retain people with disabilities.

The two-year research project will engage with employers and entrepreneurs with disabilities through an environmental scan, survey, interviews, focus groups and case studies, to answer these questions:

• What workplace conditions and practices lead to meaningful employment for people with disabilities?
• What are the alternative economic approaches to providing meaningful employment?

This project will result in a set of promising practices for employers and entrepreneurs who want to be more inclusive and equitable.

Through an engaging and accessible process, the New Inclusive Economy research aims to benefit people with disabilities who need and deserve to be recognized as having a place in the economy.
